I was lost. broken. alone. The chains of depression, worry, and sin bounded me by my neck, suffocating my last gasp of air. I could not breathe. Overwhelmed by loneliness, I lied in bed with tears falling down my cheeks, unable to move. The shackles gripped tighter and tighter as I closed my eyes, longing for release… until a still, small voice spoke to me. “I have Loved you with an everlasting Love.” I picked up my mother’s Bible and began to allow the words to flood my spirit. “Trust in the LORD… cast your cares upon him for he cares for you…” One by one the links began to fall. The weight began to lift. I took a deep gasp of air as the restraints around my neck fell loose. The LORD filled me with peace and hope. His comforting promises brought joy to my soul. John 8:36 says “If the Son (Jesus, the son of God) sets you free, you will be free indeed. Jesus is the key to True freedom.
