My name is Ty, and I am rising junior in high school. I do many types of fine arts including photography, dance, theatre, but my main focus is visual. I like to experiment with a variety of media such as painting, drawing, wood burning, sewing, making collages, art journaling, etc. To many of my pieces, there is an unwritten story within, but its up to you to interpret in your own, unique way.
How can I represent how God effects people? I used symbolism and specific materials that were significant to my pieces in order to display my sustained investigation. In some of my pieces I incorporated scriptures from the bible to represent the concept of the piece. In a lot of my pieces I used contrasting newspaper. I used the lighter areas of the newspaper containing the words in order to represent the holy spirit being light in the darkness. The bible says “In the beginning there was the word. The word was with God, and the word was God”. The words in the light areas of the newspaper represent God’s Holy spirit. I used the dark areas of the newspaper to represent the darkness of the world. In many of my pieces I incorporated a dove made out of light newspaper. The dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit, and it is made out of the light newspaper to represent being a light in the darkness. I also used lined-paper in the background with the darkness to represent the world not having “the word” or God until the holy spirit (the dove) comes to the earth and brings the word.
